Inspiration & February-March Classes
Happening Around my Spinney:
In December during our school break, my family and I took a trip up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to surprise my mom for her birthday. It was so fun and such a beautiful time together.
This January was all about getting back to school and into our routine and helping my 7th grade class with their Science Fair projects and presentations, which I hosted and were judged this past weekend. It was very busy and very fun! We have still been enjoying the snow, but are definitely looking forward to warmer months and the coming Spring. Often though, February is still a very cold month in Chicagoland.

I finished a few fun embroidery projects. For Christmas, I made some snowmen for my family. Four of them stood up and two of them were little ornaments:

In January I also started the 100 day stitch book challenge, a little gathering hosted and led by Ann Wood. The goal is to spend 100 days, 15 minutes a day stitching together a little stitched book. Here is one of the layouts I have so far:

A great stand alone for someone who needs to get a little more familiar with their sewing machine or anyone who wants to join our continual sewing program, Stitch School.
Our Winter Stitch School Session for January and February is ready for sign ups. This is the perfect time to take our Introductory class so that your student can register for Spring Break classes and our next Stitch School session (to be announced soon).
Join us for this fun class designed for kids and teens ages 8 and up. Students can spend part of their spring break at Warman Cozy getting creative with us! They will make a custom book sleeve from start to finish- perfect for protecting their favorite book, journal, or planner. Students should come in 15-20 minutes before class starts to pick out their fabric. We will work through sewing it together step by step, building on essential sewing skills they learned in our Stitch School Intro Class (Intro Class attendance is required before students are able to take this class and out other Stitch School classes). ​ You will need to bring your own sewing machine or you can rent one for $5 (let us know in the notes at checkout if you need to rent). ​ Supplies are included in the class fee.

Stitch School Spring Break: Ice Cream Pint Cozy and Coaster
3/27, 1:30-3:30 @ Warman Cozy
Join us for this fun class designed for kids and teens ages 8 and up. Students can spend part of their spring break at Warman Cozy getting creative with us! In this class they will make their own custom ice cream pint cozy and coaster set. Students should come in 15-20 minutes before class starts to pick out their fabric. We will work through sewing it together step by step, building on essential sewing skills they learned in our Stitch School Intro Class (Intro Class attendance is required before students are able to take this class and out other Stitch School classes). ​ You will need to bring your own sewing machine or you can rent one for $5 (let us know in the notes at checkout if you need to rent). ​ Supplies are included in the class fee.
If you've taken our Beginning Hand Embroidery Class or have previous hand embroidery experience, this is a great next step! You will be embellishing this lovely linen floral fabric designed by Anna Maria Horner and in class you will see a couple different options for what you can make with your embroidered piece. A kit is included in the class fee. Kit contains 6 colors of embroidery floss and 1 panel of this linen fabric from Anna Maria Textiles (each panel includes 6 flowers so you can choose which one to work on in class and take the rest home for more lovely embroidery). A full supply list will be sent out a couple weeks before the class.
Give your well loved clothes a second life in this creative visible mending class for adults. We’ll explore decorative hand stitching techniques that turn worn spots, holes, and stains into intentional design features. This class is less about “fixing it perfectly” and learning how to embrace texture, color, and design while slow stitching. You’ll learn simple mending methods, experiment with embroidery style stitches, and leave with new skills and inspiration from those learning alongside you. It’s time for a fresh perspective on reviving the clothes you have loved well! A little kit is included in the class including denim to practice on and different types of threads to experiment with!
You can see what I used my last hand embroidery project for right here on my website. It was a fun and easy project and perfect for Winter. I love adding embroidered details to fun places for a touch of personality!
