Stitching Memories: October Quilting Together Summit

October Happenings

Inspiration & October Events & Classes

Quilting Together Summit, Oct 16-18

This month is all about gearing up for the Quilting Together Summit hosted by my friend, Jo Simpson of Jo Simpson Design!

25+ quilting teachers, 3 days of learning, and one incredibly welcoming community, all completely free! Register at the affiliate link here.

I'm really excited about my workshop. If you have been around with me for a while, you'll know that I'm all about the details and that's why memory quilting is so close to my heart.

I lost my dad more than 2 years ago and quilting my memories has been one of the ways that I have dealt with the pain of losing him. Both of my quilt patterns are rooted in memories with my father. Forest Reflections and Sunset Sail can be seen below:

My Workshop for Quilting Together

Stitched Memories:
Making Blocks That Tell a Story

I'll teach you an easy appliqué process that uses memory fabric (from shirts, dresses, and pants) and features different things the person loved. You'll get a free book spine template (shown below) during the workshop.
You can look forward to:
- How to prepare clothes for your project
- The basics of the appliqué stickers
- Using the appliqué in different ways to give you some inspiration
- Finally, adding some texture to take it to the next level

Bonus members will get 3 more templates to use in their blocks: mason jars, pine trees, and a sail boat. So make sure to upgrade for those additional templates. You can see how I used the templates in different ways for a memory quilt that I'm making:

Happening Around my Spinney:

I have a 13 year old! We were able to go up to celebrate with family, surprising my sister for her birthday and the same day, my son turned 13! Fall in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan was breathtaking and we had the sweetest time away with family. Fall break is usually between the crazy ends of the last part of the year, but it is always worth it to get away for a little bit!

I joined the Color Study Quilt Along by Alison Glass which has been so much fun!

I am going to dig things out of my stash for this one- it just feels too good to use fabric well. And I'm excited to really dig into the color study part of it. That is part of why I love Alison Glass fabric, she has such a beautiful eye for color!
